This is our neighborhood. Not exactly Butte, MT, but the big building at the end of the road is a 4-story department store with resturants. If Mary needs a shopping fix, she only has to walk a block. There is also Stone Cold Ice cream and McDonalds on this same street to fix those other things that need fixing.
Here's the view from our apt. We live on the 30th floor of the "Royal Palace Houseville". Kind of makes you dizzy to look down and our ears pop going up and down the elevator.
Korean custom is to take your shoes off at the door. Our apartment came with slippers to slide on...!

f our apartment. Don't let Lyle in the kitchen fool you. He still doesn't cook. And neither do I..! Koreans do most of their cooking on the stove top and they eat out a lot. Thus it's common to have no oven nor a lot of storage space.We really like the toliet. There are a whole assortment of options for flushing and bum cleaning. The seat is always heated.
The shower also has a menu of options. We love the shower.
We took the subway today to get to church. It was a little scary because we barely knew how to use the subway. It was a bit of an adventure and we made it with no wrong turns. Lyle kept having trouble with the ticket machines. For the first time in my life, the machines liked me better.
The English speaking branch has between 80 and 100 that attend. They come from Africa, Philippines, New Zealand, Korea and the USA. It felt good to be around members and have them understand us. Since we can't speak or understand or read, we've truly felt deaf and dumb at times. But most Koreans can understand English and we've really had no trouble getting around, asking directions or getting help purchasing things. We
even made a Costco run!
This week is the Happy New Year (Lunar Calendar) holiday in Korea. Come celebrate with us...! We miss you all. Get yourselves a web cam and call us on gmail.

OH Mary, this is SO exciting. What a great adventure. It HAS to be great if a Cold Stone is close by. We're so happy for you. Please keep telling us all about it. I've never seen a royal toilet before.

Can I just say that your new adventure looks like a heck of a lot of fun? It really is like you are newlyweds, just the two of you, lots to explore together.
The toilet and shower make me laugh because I know Japan is the same way--high tech everything. Many people have told me the toilets are one thing they miss a lot when they come back to the states. You'll have to import one when you move home.

Oh I am in love with your bathroom. In cars I like seat warmers and other such settings...so to have a bathroom with all those buttons...well worth moving to Korea.
Congratulations, I had no idea that you were in Korea! What a fun adventure. When I was in Japan I really liked the heated toilets. But, I learned the hard way not to "test" the other buttons on the toilet. I had quite the experience being held hostage by the toilet spraying watering and not knowing how to turn it off. Yep, pretty funny!
